Document Summary
If behaviour is reinforced, it is likely to occur again. If no reinforcement occurs, the behaviour will no longer occur as well. When a behaviour that has been previously reinforced and is no longer followed be reinforcing consequences it will stop occurring: this is called extinction. An extinguished behaviour is one that is reduced through the process of extinction. When you know how to use it, you can reduce behaviour in yourself and others! You must know what reinforces the behaviour. Then you must withhold the reinforce when the behaviour occurs.
