Etc is important because it makes atp, fundamental for all the process in the body (especially the brain) , thus, due to the low oxygen concentration low atp not enough energy faints. When someone faints it is because of the lack of oxygen delivered to the brain. There was a lack of oxygen being delivered to robby"s brain because all the co molecules were taking up the binding slots of o2 on the hemoglobins. Thus, the low saturation of o2 molecules causes him to faint. The purpose of fainting is to attempt to get the body to a horizontal position so as to allow for easier flow of blood to the brain (no effect by gravity) An initial diagnosis could include checking blood co levels. Direct spectrophotometric measurement of cohb in a blood gas analyser is the gold standard, although the initial level may not correlate with severity.
