Not all of the control processes resulting in a given movement are directly observable. Must define what can be measured and use those data as a basis for inferring what is occurring at unobservable levels. Electro/magneto recording and imaging (eg. emg, eeg, and meg) The type of measure(s) that are selected depend upon. Indicate the product or result of a motor performance. The primary concern with the result of the movement rather than the means. Usually take the form of error assessment. Error assessment are measures used to evaluate skills that have accuracy as the primary goal. May reveal the cause of problems in actions. Computing an accuracy score for someone who has attempted a series of trials a task that requires accuracy. Simplest example is a discrete action of reaching or pointing at something. There are 3 ways to assess outcome performance on this type of task. Absolute error is the unsigned deviation of a movement endpoint.
