Document Summary
3 specific characteristics/types: individual, environmental, and task constraints interactive model, cannot look at the 3 types individually b/c individual constraints interact with environment and type of task they are attempting. Movement arises from the interaction of: the organism (indiv, environment in which the movement occurs, the task to be undertaken. What you"re going to do affects how you do it this means that each cannot be considered individually task will constrain the execution. Must look at person in context of environment and motor behaviours that emerge with specific tasks as person matures. Structural constraints: indiv constraints related to body structure and physiology of the organism. Functional constraints: indiv constraints related to behavioural function, more psychological. Constraint means something that shapes development, doesn"t mean negative. Related to body"s structure: height, muscle mass, limb length, etc. These change slowly with time and often can change in both directions. Related to behavioural function, more cognitive: attentional focus, motivation, fear, pleasure.
