How much motivation that individual has: quality. Inhered by athlete"s sustained and positive, and healthy engagement (athlete"s accomplishments, development, enjoyment, psychological and physical benefit) Individual act more motivated when they: think they have the competence to meet the demand of task, believe they have the control. Perception of ability and autonomy are critical to motivational pattern: perception of ability =/= actual ability. Ego approach oriented if athlete is preoccupied with demonstrating superior ability compared to others. Ego avoidance goal: concerned about not revealing his inferiority, avoid showing he does not possess adequate level of ability linked to greater fear of failure, stronger belief of unchangeable sport ability, anxiety, lower intrinsic motivation etc.
