Victorian ideology: associated with self reliance god helps those who help themselves , look out for yourself, save for a rainy day ideology, centered on protecting work ethic, value of hard work. Family roles gender divisions: males: income. Making as much money as you possible could. Expected that boys start work at a young age. Working class families hesitant to put families in school because the kids could generate extra money: females. In terms of cooking and cleaning, shopping, getting every last ounce they could. Families would put as many people in houses as they could.
