This knowledge is derived from observations or experimentation: rational/natural explanations. Seeking explanations in terms of natural causes, because supernatural causes are not used in science: repeatability and reproducibility. Reliable findings are those that can be repeated and reproduced: testability. Neat theory is not sufficient; it must be testable. For an idea to be testable, it must generate specific expectations -> a set of observations to expect if the idea is true, and a set to expect if the idea is false should be noted: experimentation. An organized and detailed series of steps to validate or reject a hypothesis: generality of principles. Generality establishment of principles that operate throughout the natural world, scientific laws are generalities. The scientific method: define/identify the problem, form a hypothesis, test hypothesis, organize data, do experiments and observations support hypothesis, if no, perform new experiments and analysis, draw conclusion, communicate results.
