Document Summary

Lectures: tuesdays and wednesdays 3:30-4:30 pm, room tbd. We"re learning about ourselves our world at a record pace, but there"s no shortage of unanswered questions. This course explores how interdisciplinary research in the life sciences is helping to answer these questions. We"ll hear from researchers working to better understand today"s challenges and develop creative, sustainable solutions for our communities. We"ll critically examine primary research and science coverage in the media. We"ll conduct our own research, communicate our findings and propose a community-engaged application of our research. We"ll also consider the ways you can apply skills learned in the life sciences program to diverse careers. Tutorials will provide an opportunity to collaborate with peers and upper-year mentors on assignments and program planning. We"ll meet tuesdays and wednesdays for a mix of guest lectures and interactive workshops. You will be able to access some lectures via live stream; for others in-class attendance is requested.
