Clotting studies: evidence of coagulopathy, disease affecting clotting, taking medication that affects clotting, platelet count low, or conditions that affect platelets. Evaluation of renal function required: history of renal dysfunction, disease likely to impair renal functions, heart failure, certain meds, nephrotoxic. The kidney filters this out of the blood and releases into the urine.
