Document Summary

As front line healthcare workers we see trauma patients very early in their care. Trauma is performed in teams of 2 techs. Interprofessional - exam management - make sure are aware & talk with whoever is in charge of the patient (ie the nurse) Ask if there is anything you need to know about the patient - ie. cannot be sat up to 90 degrees for a chest. Collaborative - bring patient side rails down, which side are we rolling the patient towards, ask for help from nurse if needed. Do not remove dressings (gauze, tensor bandage) or splints (keeps alignment of part - ie. for finger or for extremities (more permanent)) If you want to move the patient, need to clear lateral spines - c, t, l. C spine = whiplash - more likely than not the affected area. T & l are more stable, no movement - not likely the affected area.
