Document Summary

Music 2ii3 lecture 32 nov 30th, 2015. Importance of concerts to this music hard rock / heavy metal (stadium rock) because the beatles really changed the economy of where bands can play. Large sports stadiums have now become the stage for large rock groups. It accelerates the theatrics aspects (they now have to fill a massive space and cannot just sit on a stool and play an acoustic guitar) He strikes the guitar with a chord and gets an echo when he gestures with the bow (the lights changes colour) jimmy page has that kind of power on the stage in a stadium concert. This moment of extraordinary (super human ability) takes place with no one else on the stage. Everyone there backing up, part of the group. This is about the power of the individual, and that is where we see stadium rock positioning itself as response to the failure of counter-culture.
