Dependant on the development of: different from. folk(makes music for their own entertainment, interested in playing songs that traditions have passed from generation to generation) Sees a transition from trading goods and exchanging one things for another. By the time industrial revolution ends, we exchange other things such as money and objects. Able to keep the money and the objects being received and given. Can pass this money off to family and use it for future needs. Form of hierarchy (lower class people start to save money, middle class spends money on things they dont need) Pushes people from the country to the city (large urban populations) rural or urban. Can"t because a rock star if everyone lives in the country, not much popularity( not going to make a living) Industrial revolution meant that millions of people were coming to the city to make money and spend money. Getting lots of people in the city makes popular music.
