Lecture 10 collaborative work: negotiations between mts and community. Musicians in the development of sa community mt project. South africa has a big division between whites and blacks. There are people today living in townships like miles of aluminum siding that builds shacks. One can only imagine what happens to individuals when living in this environment where you(cid:859)re fending for everything, no school. There were some individuals wanted to do something for those living in these townships. Non-for profit, founded 2003, 2 music therapists. Aims to provide mt to previously disadvantaged communities in cape town sa (and music making). Issues: poverty, unemployment, gang violence, hiv, aids, --fragmentation and disintegration of many communities. Employs 4 mts, 4 community musicians, 5 projects (around cape town area).
