Why is music an effective tool in health care. Whole brain: music is one of the only things that engage the whole brain because there is the logic, timing, creative parts, motor skills, memory, and emotional impact. You have memory of emotion, and you also have a memory of how to play the instrument, to play the notes. Other areas of the brain can help to strengthen the weak area of the brain. Used within music therapy in order to achieve a variety of health goals. Encompasses mood, emotions, acts as a distraction, evokes memories when used either passively or in an actively meaningful manner. Music has also been found to alter mood and elicit relaxation responses. Client will increase vocabulary to include social greetings. Client will engage in turn taking behaviour.
