Cardiac reflex, senses aortic bp, stimulates gastric and pancreatic secretions, taste. Controls trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles and swallowing movements. Occlude one nostril and ask patient to identify odor. Test for visual acuity, pupil size and perla (pupils equal, reactive to light and accomodating) Test reaction to movement by moving finger in h pattern.
