Since england and france are basically engineered by their ruling classes, none of these groups of workers have any interest in the outcomes of war: they"ll be exploited either war. The politics that matters is the politics over the exploitation: communism = trying to overcome exploitation. Pg 161-62: most famous account of modernity. The invention of the capitalist economy and what it has done: capitalism once unleashed has the inevitable tendency to destroy everything, money tears down everything. Modernity for marx starts is 1492: world trade develops, money circulates freely.
