It is a collaborative exercise - involves consideration of and consultation with a range of individuals - those within and external players. People need to be dealt with on an internal and external basis. For the private sector a non-isolated activity means an organization needs to be prepared to explore activities for new and existing customers - Ge is the 3rd largest software developer in the world - they are thinking of the next set of customers they will have to serve. Think about achieving long-term objectives and a framework for actions to be done on a regular basis. Be innovative and critical in thinking about how the innovation will be received. It means being responsive to new opportunities when they arise. Not only putting in place deliberate strategies but take advantages of opportunities when they arise and be flexible in how it operates - this can be disruptive, particularly when discussing implementing policy.
