Document Summary

Attribution theories: gain a lot of info about person by simply observing her behaviour, how interpret behaviour may lead to form impression that may/may not accurately reflect circumstances. Ex: mother & child engaged in loud shouting at grocery store. Ex: imagine in philosophy class debating ethics of death penalty, one of colleagues arguing strongly in support. If knew has chosen to be on team arguing in support of issue, may infer truly believed in his message. If person behaves in typical way to what you would expect, less info available to infer underlying cause to behaviour. No (problem every computer) probably due to factor on his end. Probably late for important appointment : when trying to interpret underlying cause of behaviour in others, often, like most would explain behaviour by assuming he is aggressive & inconsiderate. Ex: imagine in rush hour traffic & cut off by other driver. Do you overestimate role of dispositional factors, underestimate role of situational factors.
