Bio-science of life, psych is a biological science and unifying theory of all bio is theory of evolution. Evolution is the unifying theory of the biological sciences including psychology. Adaptations are functional traits or characteristics that help an individual survive and reproduce in their environment. Human eye: enable you to recognize and respond effectively to things around you by detecting and analyzing the reflected light. Raccoons: front paws have adapted to be so sensitive that often don"t require vision to discriminate food items. Bats: enables them to navigate through their environment at night. Mental activities, such as memory encoding, can also serve adaptive functions. Cognitive psychologists study: selective attention, memory encoding, retrieval of each which refers to a task the mind needs to accomplish to do its job. Find helpful to breakdown large scale processes into adaptive problems. Adaptations arise through the three components of natural selection.
