Individuals should be content, healthy and in a positive environment. Basic needs fulfilled: health studies covers health geography, medical anthropology (bio-cultural/ecological aspects of health), health psychology and health economics. Being critical: challenging social an institutional norms, models of thinking, and power relationships. Involving communities as partners in research, developing a public approach: understanding how local situations and events are related to global scale processes, questioning the nature of evidence . Concerns and criticism of health studies: a formulaic approach; increasing systematic and uninvolved, weakening of radicalism, over-theorizing the world, naturalizing concerning social situations. Canada"s history with the social determinants of health: Lalonde shifted the focus of health to areas including human biology, environment(food, safety and pollution) lifestyle and healthcare organization (quality, availability: health field concept neglects the concept that the environment may affect risky decisions among individuals. The socio-economical model of health considers structural factors that shape an individual"s health and choices.
