Document Summary

1/3 of the brain is devoted to visual processing. When visual info. is in conflict with info. from another sense, we tend to bias out trust towards our sense of vison. Our visual sense: eyes are instruments that collect, focus, and sense light stimulus, heavy duty processing occurs in the brain (cid:894)(cid:449)e (cid:858)see(cid:859) (cid:449)ith our (cid:271)rai(cid:374)(cid:859)(cid:895) Light travels as a wave, and varies in two respects: amplitude: height of each wave. Amplitude is an indication of perceived brightness. Greater amplitude = more light reflected/emitted from object = brighter/ more intense: wavelength: distance b/w the peaks and successive waves. Wavelength is an indication of perceived colour. Smaller wavelength = higher frequency b/c there is less distance b/w successive peaks. Purity is an indication of colour saturation: light made of a single wavelength = pure. Light passes through a series of focusing structures in the eye: light passes through curved cornea (begins focusing process)
