Document Summary

Satiety and the liver: liver sends signals to the brain which trigger satiety. If you inject a dog with glucose into a vein directly connected to the liver, the dog will stop eating. If injected with cck, an individual will report feeling fuller sooner compared to those who were not injected. Interesting: the rats who were injected with cck ate more frequently, and ended up eating the same amount as those who were not injected: cck is a short-term satiety signal. Long-term energy store takes place in the form of fat: why store it as fat and not glycogen, fat has twice the energy as carbs, unlike glycogen, fat is found everywhere in the body. In the long-term, fat storage is more sustaining for providing energy when the body goes into starvation mode. Sucrose intake increased, and rats worked harder for a cue associated with sucrose.
