Document Summary

Magno and parvo cells: these cells in the reina transduce light simulus into a neural impulse. Magno cells found mainly in periphery of reina, used for detecing changes in brightness, moion and depth. Parvo cells found throughout reina, used for detecing color, patern and form. These cells are very paricular about what makes them ire, called feature. Hodgkin and huxley detectors: recorded electrical acivity in individual neuron of squid, now scienists look at how individual neurons respond to speciic simuli. Letvin et al: found neuron in opic nerve of frog that responds only to moving black dots, called bug detectors . Hubel and wiesel: exploraion of visual cortex by trying to learn what type of simuli that individual corical cells responded to, used electrodes on cats and simple light simuli, but realized that needed more complex. Cells ire maximally to simuli of a certain shape, size, posiion, and movement. This deines the recepive ield for that cell.
