Cost of having a long childhood is that it is a drain of resources for the parental, a huge amount of parental investment. The benefit is related to the reproduction of only having a certain amount of offspring. Another benefit is that if the basic needs are met they have the right tools to develop complex ideas, and psychologically. Phineas gage: railroad supervisor who got a metal rod jammed in his head, up to his left frontal lobe. His recovery shot wasn"t short, he had months of rehabilitation. He recovered, better social skills and interactions with others. The man who mistook his wife for a hat: this man has visual atonia: sleep paralysis 8% of the population will experience this. Rem, rem atonia is the paralysis of our muscles during sleep. Sometimes there is overlap and the pons continue even when you wake up.
