Tests the same idea but do they understand he properties of objects (don"t disappear or change size or whatever) Habituate babies to watch a short carrot pass behind a screen and come out the other side, and the same with a large carrot. To test object permanence, she cuts a window in the screen and sends the short carrot behind the screen; you shouldn"t see the carrot as the window is too high. Also sends the tall carrot through the screen with a window and (due to the mechanism) the large carrot does not show in the window. If the baby understands object permanence, the baby should dishabituate when the large carrot is unseen through the window. This is what happened; the babies show with their interest, of their understanding of how objects work. More of less accurate picture of infant"s abilities.
