PSYCH 2AA3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Postpartum Depression, Extraversion And Introversion, Conscientiousness
Document Summary
Have babies which are happy and those who cry all the time and those who are angry all the time. Inborn predisposition to behave in certain ways - how they react to things; how they react to being with people vs. being alone. The temperament babies have when they"re born is a pretty good indicator of what their personality will be when they"re older. There is a correlation between temperament as a baby and personality of adults within different traits. Temperament (measured as high, low or somewhere in the middle) Positive emotionality (easy baby) - high = moving towards rather than away from new people or things. Negative emotionality (dif cult baby) - easy to displease; dominated by negative emotions. Extraversion, agreeableness - like to be around people and do new things; easy to have nice conversations with. Neuroticism - view things in a relatively negative way. Introversion, openness, neuroticism - not open to new experiences.
