Haley is made up of hay-lee, or h-ay-l-ee. 90 british kids at 4 yrs and tested them again at 6 years. Wanted to know the relationship between reading ability between 4 yrs and 6 yrs. Experimenter says coat, but say it without c so they say oat. Remove phoneme at the end of the word or take a phoneme out of the middle of the word. 4 years 6 years: tested pa (deletions), rhyming ability, word recognition, and word comprehension (give them a passage and give questions about passage if they got it right they comprehended it) Pa at 4 years predicted word recognition (but not comprehension) at 6 years (positive correlation with pa and word recognition) Word recognition at 4 years predicted comprehension at 6 years.
