One of most treatable disorders and has high remission rate. About quarter of all patients have one schizophrenic episode and then never again. Symptoms known for many years, an old" disorder. Used to be called dementia craytox seen as form of early life dementia. Dsm 5 critera; one month of symptoms which at least one should hallucination, delusions or distorted speech Individual does not have to be stressed by the symptoms. Individual believes there is nothing wrong with themselves, but the problem is their environment. Jumps from one topic to another randomly. Make up words never heard before idiocrysms. Perseveration: will repeat words or phrases over and over again. Will also see autistic behaviour (self absorbed narrow interest) Somatic: ex: snakes crawling inside you ex: penetrating of knife in hand. Flat or inappropriate affect voice at no emotion. Avolition; lack of will inability to make choices loss of interest, will.
