Two majors schools developed over disagreements over doctrine and practice. Isn"t as large as buddhism but still has around 4 million followers. Started in northeastern indian during traditions spread: svetambara (white-clothed, digambara (sky-clothed) didn"t wear clothes. Each school has their own grouping of text. Jainism was re-introduced by vardhamana mahavira (in our cycle of time he was the last jina) Other jinas before and other jinas after jains can tell you to the year when the next jina will come. Jinas create a bridge across ocean of samsara. Thinking about killing someone incurs the same karmic result as actually killing someone. Karma determines everything that happens in samsara. Jain universe: shape of a man of incredibly large size. Can move through various heavens and hells.
