Mechanical solidarity/pre-industrial --> people have shared beliefs and these are determined by religious doctrine, in pre-industrial societies religion is very important, tells people whats right/wrong, people rely on religious celebrations. Organic solidarity/industrial --> increasing secularism (move from religion), people believing different things, believed they are suffering moral crisis, the source of whats right/wrong shifted to the government. Karl marx --> religion is something people create. Religion is a source of false consciousness for the working-class.
