The social significance of organizations: organizations have an impact on most aspects of contemporary social life, members of society an individuals does occur within or through organizations, so they do have an important impact on one"s life. The sociology of organizations: identify and understand the organizational foundation of society, organizational society indicates how crucial organizations have become to understanding the human activity. Two major types of organizations: groups of people (these people may come together deliberately or spontaneously) who participate in a division of labour (this may be simple or complex in certain organizations) that is coordinated by communication and leadership (this may be formal or informal in certain organizations) to achieve a common goal or goals (one specific goal or several related goals). Settings for organizations: environments, niches, domains, industries (broadcasting industry has radio and television, for example) and also institutions (institutions and organizations are not the same thing however; they may be used in replace for one another)
