Spoke about different stages in sociological thought, understanding the world through religion to understanding the world through philosophy. Positive stage a stage through understanding the world through science. Led to the notion of positivism, focuses on trying to understand the world in a way that is grounded and scientific. Comte ideas paved the way for durkheim, durkheim spoke about the needs for sociologists to focus on irregularities in societies.
