1860s (karl marx mentioned, capitalist expansion including around the world) 1950s (talcott parsons, development a theory called modernization theory) suggested that all society inevitably will follow the same path of economic, social, and cultural development achieved by the united states: later theoretical ideas. 1960s (andre gunder frank, (established the dependency theory as a critic of modernization theory). He suggested that latin american countries will remain in under development because they arguing subjected to exploitation by united states. So highlighting the structural inequality that exist amongst countries and that not all will develop in the same way. As some will be exposed to disadvantaged as exploitation. He took a broader approach then frank, but in a global way. He argued that inequality that exists globally is part of the capitalist world system. 1980s- (the concept of globalization first appeared) it appeared in a business article and it talked about an expansion of global markets, the term then started to use.
