- Ahmadis  10 million followers in the Muslim world

- Ghulam Ahmad was born in 1885 in India and as he grew up, he claimed to have received some
visions that God was talking to him
- In 1876, when his father died, he claimed that he received revelation that God was sending him
messages
- He claimed to be a prophet, this is an issue since in Islam there should be no prophet after
Mohammed pbuh
- Ahmadis are highly prosecuted, they live mainly in Pakistan
- Ghulam Ahmad studied different faiths,
- 1889, he claimed to be the messiah (Mahdi)
- Ahmadis say he is a spiritual guide and not a prophet
- He followed the same law as prophet Mohammed
- He felt like he should take a reformation of the Muslim world
- Ghulam Ahmed claimed he had the light of God that he wanted to express through writing and
speeches
- He died in 1908, however the coming of the Mahdi has to accompany certain signs
- Controversy over whether or not he was a Messiah
- His mission was not to have the end of the world, but more to restore the teachings of the
Quran
- He was engaged in spiritual jihad
- They believe they have a mandate to preach Islam to non-Muslims
- Many other see Ahmadis as non Muslims
- Jesus came down from the cross and looked for the lost tribes of Israel
- One of the signs of the return of the Messiah is the sun will rise from the West
- He believed it was the Muslims duty to convert Christians to islam
- More tolerated in the west than in their own countries
- Ibrahima was the first convert in America
- There was a split in the Ahmadi community when he died, some denied his preaching
- He was succeed by his son
