Reading between the lines there is a message that is there for information. If it"s a right wing paper - the slant will go accordingly. Important to analyze what is being transmitted as the message, but also what is not being said. We don"t have the same coding abilities like in qualitative, but we use symbols to code into numbers. You may want to look for words that speak to body image / diet etc . Objective - allows you to do a computer analysis. Coding manual - allows us to make sense of the data and keep track of what"s going on. Figure out categories and each of those gets its own number. If the word is there it"s there you can only measure something that"s there. What is there but you need to dig for it. Use inductive and deductive processes to categorize and code. Space - how big is the area/volume of the word/concept.
