Course description: this course provides an overview of various social psychological perspectives and theories and the studies that have contributed to their development. In addition, applications of these theoretical frameworks and current research based on these theories will be discussed. An experiment involves the manipulation of an independent variable, the measurement of a dependent variable, and the exposure of various participants to one or more of the conditions being studied. Symbolic interactionism: a sociological framework, mead acknowledged as the ancestor of this field, disagreed with instincitivist perspectives and behaviourism, blumer coined the term, other individuals include: dewey, cooley, james, and park. History: george mead, disagreed with instinctivist perspectives and behaviourism, believed that behaviour is socially coordinated and created, humans are unique from other living organisms.
