If she"s hostile towards men = confuses son"s developing sense of his own gender. The power of real fathers needs to be loving & teaching but there is cautionary note that men don"t want to be too. Lovey/kissy : the interactions between fathers and sons are crucial in a boys" life and fathers tend to develop their own loving style in teaching, guiding and playing with their sons. Emotional management: forces young boys to learn to regulate/tolerate feelings more clearly, have to adapt to a variety of complex social situations, son needs to observe father"s facial expression (is he joking or hurting?) Also aren"t scared of others: ability to self-protect, shows how father is empathetic to their sons; they want them to protect themselves. Men were encouraged to allow their female side to take over and now emotions as well as discipline are important. New father wants to spend more time with children.
