Comes in many forms (casual conversation, observations, etc) Some are easy to handle while others take serious deliberation and thoughtful processing. He talks about how he handle the small versus the big issues. Bailey & burch (2016) developed a rating system to categorize ethical situations from easy" to very difficult". The purpose of rating the situation was to then be able to adequately match the situation with the level of experience of the bcba. More difficult cases with more experienced bcbas. There was some (minor to severe) violation of ethics code and/or client rights. There was some probability of physical or psychological harm (minor to severe). Solutions range from those within the authority of the behavior analyst to resolve to multiple-step solutions with a supervisor or the agency head involved. There were serious conflicts between parties and agencies. There were legal issues involved and/or potential lawsuits against the certificant.
