What is whiteness: whiteness is a location of structural advantage, of race privelege. God like: named after the russian mountains where god created human, privileged the white able bodied male, used science and reason to justify white colonisation. As a model of lived experience: whiteness as assuming superiority or entitlement, white privilege brings unearned political social and economic advantages, knapsack of unearned privileges, because i occupy this space. Insulated from race based stress- " protective pillows" Lowers the ability to deal with stress- white fragility: triggers defensive mechanism. The direction of power between whites and forth between white and non white people. The direction of power between whites and racialized groups is historic, traditional, normalized and deeply embedded in western societies: racism defined in this way counters the dominant representation of racism as individual display of behaviours, prejudice+systemic power= racism.
