HPED 2030 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Inter-Rater Reliability
Document Summary
When data is collected, an important aspect of whether we can trust this new information is whether or not the measured data is consistent or reliable. This reading will explore ways to evaluate the reliability of the data collected. Instructions: read pages 191-194 and create answers to the following questions. This material will be covered in the class quiz. Define the term: reliability: the extent to which test scores are reliable the consistency or repeatability of test scores or data. Does the term reliability in this context refer to test result or the instrument itself: reliability focuses on the scores or data and not the instrument itself (p192) Define the term: reliability coefficient: the size and sign of the coefficient allow for a strict interpretation of the value. The higher the number the more reliable a test result (p. 196) Correlation: a statistic used to assess relationships between or among variables. There are several types including pearson and spearman correlations.
