Four main issues: forms of media ownership, the state and media policy, conflict over ownership, policy, and globalization. Identifies several different forms of media ownership in addition to making the distinction between private ownership and public ownership. Each of the forms of private ownership has different effects that critical researchers see as possibly problematic. The five forms of private ownership are listed in the table below: Latter four forms of private ownership provide economic benefits for the owners (reducing staff, reuse of materials, guaranteed outlets for products, sharing personnel, etc. ) Media & communications receive a lot of attention in canada, & are seen by many as crucial to. Canadian culture & society, & to national unit - that is why there is public media in addition to privately owned media, & is also why we have state & media policies about canadian content. Canadian identity is seen as in need of protection.
