Problems with land claims

involved
- Duley George was the first person to be killed by a police officer over a land claims
dispute.
War measures act: 1914, statute that gives emergency powers to the federal government, which
allows it to govern by orders when there’s a real or perceived threat of war or invasion.
- Stoney point, was aboriginal land they were paid 15$ an acer and it was used for military
training ground. Was meant to be returned and wasn’t.
Leaders craft The two row wampum belt to make an important agreement, it’s a treaty of respect
for the dignity and integrity of both partied involved and it stresses the importance of
independence and non-interference
- Consists of two rows of purple wampum beads set on a background of white wampum
beads, the meaning of the beads is healing, jewellery and decoration,
