Getting out of the bronze age (soon) Looking at the palaces in the lh period is a bit difficult . They are a huge thing in the late bronze age period. The great construction built at various sites at this time. The ones that are best known are the ones at mycenae. When schliemann went to mycenae (1870s-1880s), he was looking for agamemnon"s grave. Read in pausanias that when he had gone there, he had seen the graves of royalty and that they were within the walls of mycenae. Schliemann took this as the citadel walls this is how he found the shaft graves. Scholars thought that the great huge structures (tholos tombs) were tombs, but. He and his wife dug them but found nothing but a few pot shards. He only dug two and then stopped (there are 9 total at mycenae) The scholars were correct in their guess that these are tombs.
