Every time it is redone: abscesses. Consequences for birthing: difficult vaginal exams, difficult monitoring, prolonged labour, fistula formation. When the tissue forms into the anus/urethra: perineal tears. Skin ruptures tears: uterine inertia or rupture, fetal retention in birth canal.
