Document Summary

Myoglobin, hemoglobin, electron transfer in the oxidation of carbohydrates, proteins, & fats. Spinal cord consists of: motor nerve- voluntary movement sensory nerve dorsol root ganglion (sensory)- sensory input grey matter (cell bodies) Smaller components of the spine: white matter (axon): full of myelin. Ventral sends things to the motor endings -- movement. Syrinx cavity in the spinal cord causes muscle weakness and & atrophy. Pregangliotic fibers postgangliontic fibers innervates middle of spinal cord. Preganglionic fibers are cholinergic (use ach as the neurotransmitter) and terminate on synaptic ganglia adjacent to the spinal cord and other nearby ganglia fibers from spinal cord to autonomic ganglia. Postganlionic fibers terminate on organs and are mostly noradrengric (use nonepinephrine) from ganglia to end organ. Parasympathetic division ganglia tend to be closer to target organs. cholinergic fibers termination on organs are mostly cholinergic or peptidergic (use neuropeptides) enervates top and bottom of spinal cord.
