CHY 183 Lecture 2: CHY 183 Week 3
Document Summary
The angle the blood struck the surface. Location or position where victim was at the time a bloody wound inflicted. Approximate number of blows that struck bleeding individual. Surface texture and stain"s shape, size and location must be considered when determining bloodstain"s direction, dropping distance, and angle of impact. Surface texture is of paramount importance. In general, harder and less porous the surface = less spatter results. Smoother surface = more circular the splatter. Passive drop is caused by gravity pulls off droplet. How fast drop moves depends on gravity pressure and velocity increases longer it falls from the air: bigger moves faster by gravity pushing down. Most volume of blood droplet is in the middle: when droplet hits surface, the middle causes blood to splash out to the side. Satellite splatters sharp ends of a droplet; it lines around a splatter of blood (a. k. a. the spine; it is the swiggly line around the blood)
