A verb, a noun and an adjective (woodward and fisher 2014) Culture gives material meaning, materials give meaning to culture (reciprocal) Noun - the fashion industry and system (design, production and selling of clothing includes magazines, editors, models etc. ) Responsible for the annual or seasonal change (silhouette and form, textile, material, colour and pattern in clothes) Adjective - practice of being "in fashion" (clothes of the moment) Knowledge to select the right clothing and wear it properly. Verb - an activity (relationship between people and clothes) Agency from people and materials (materials can thwart human agency) Designers encode values and assumptions in strategies and products that perpetuate and enforce cultural norms. Our values are often unconscious and have been normalized. Men in congo society for elegant gentlemen. Show emotion of joy, hopefulness, being free (despite in poverty) All wear the same thing share similar values, part of a group.
