Big issue for city because of large population. How to make city sustainable the population creates a lot of pollution. More people means we need more jobs: unevenness. Within the city and between different cities. Middle class is replaced by people that are very rich and very poor: polarization of income. Not all cities in canada are the same. Economic success is not shared between cities. Big cities are more affluent: toronto, montreal, vancouver. Small cities don"t share the wealth: guelph, st. catherine, uncertainty in global economy the fortune of a business is not written in stone. One year can be great and the next is uncertain. 5 years this is uncertainty for the workers in a city. 6 properties to understand the city (standard for all cities) Production: some economic activities that cannot function in a rural country side. A certain concentration of the workforce: difference. You can have basic needs to sustain yourself self-sustaining economy in the city.
