French army used terror extensively, civilians got involved, and the police drew a blind eye to it so the nlf started to expand more. Battle for algiers: helicopters are used for attacks wherever it was difficult to get troops; French algiers were bombing areas outside the muslim area: population were angry about being moved out of their home, and having trouble to find food.
