The way you talk about a book is the same way you talk about the body. Designing books used to mean you were making lots of them. They were fixed, and the stakes were high. Now, you have to have reasons to make a book, and you can make a single copy, whereas before you had to have hundreds of copies. It can elude to other media but its purpose is to interpret one form and turn it into another: alchemy. A book means something and suggests an importance. No argument or consideration can absolve typography from this: emil ruder.
